STapleton & Frazier Class
2016-2017
Now that Milestones are over, we'll be reviewing the topics that we've learned through our storylines this year in science by engaging in STEAM Challenges. These STEAM challenges will challenge our students to work collaboratively with one another to solve problems presented to them. Below is a slideshow that has some images displaying our students working on the most recent challenge, "Can you use what you know about force and motion to create a Peep-mobile?" We have also started preparing for the 4th grade Wax Museum & working on a Build a Zoo using area & perimeter math project!

Your child learned about the flow of energy through ecosystems by studying the Great Barrier Reef ecosystem. Check out the way that they programmed the RoboRobo robotics kits to show their knowledge of how energy flows through one of the Great Barrier Reef's food chains.
Today our students participated in a Zoom conference with the marine biologist, Dr. Tonya Shearer, from Discover Science Center. It was an extension to our ecosystems storyline with the driving question, "How does energy flow through the Great Barrier Reef ecosystem?" The students discussed factors that affected the health of coral reef ecosystems with Dr. Shearer, specifically discussing invasive species. It was a great learning opportunity for the students! |
